As part of our bold commitment to freight decarbonisation, FSEW has taken delivery of two additional Volvo FM Electric 4x2 tractor units, doubling our Volvo EV fleet in just a matter of months. These latest arrivals bring us another step closer to achieving net-zero emissions by 2030 and reaffirm our leadership in sustainable freight solutions.
Since 2022, we’ve successfully removed over 1.6 million diesel miles from UK roads and with our growing fleet of fully electric and biomethane-powered vehicles, that number is only set to rise.
Volvo’s electric technology has exceeded our expectations, which is why we’ve doubled down with another order so soon after our first deliveries.
– Geoff Tomlinson (Managing Director, FSEW)
Why Volvo’s FM electric is powering FSEW’s future
The Volvo FM Electric isn’t just a cleaner alternative—it’s a high-performance, efficient, and driver-approved solution for long-distance freight transport.
- 666 hp & 2,400 Nm torque – powered by three electric motors, these trucks deliver serious pulling power.
- Six-battery configuration – ensuring maximum range and performance across our high-mileage operations.
- Ultra-Smooth Driving – Volvo’s I-Shift gearbox constantly optimises performance for a quiet and comfortable ride.
- Cutting emissions at scale – each truck will run six days a week, covering approximately 120,000 miles per year while eliminating diesel emissions.
Supporting our drivers and maximising up-time
It’s not just about reducing carbon, our drivers love the FM Electric’s smooth, silent performance.
Our drivers have reported they are a delight to drive—they could not be happier.

To ensure reliability, all four trucks are covered by a Volvo Gold contract, which guarantees:
- Maximum uptime with proactive maintenance and repairs
- Battery health monitoring for long-term performance
- 24/7 support to keep our fleet moving efficiently
